The History of OPM3

In 1998 a project was chartered to develop an international standard for industry and government strictly through the grassroots efforts of unpaid volunteers. Their journey led to the development of the Organizational Project Management Maturity Model (OPM3), and this is their story.

PMI's OPM3 Standard

PMI developed the Project Manager Competency Development Framework to help project managers and organizations understand and expand their project management competence — the personal competitive edge project managers bring to an organization when they deliver projects.
PMI developed The Practice Standard for Earned Value Management expands on the EVM information in the PMBOK® Guide. The standard, in detail, describes the elements of EVM. It also offers examples of how EVM can fit any project size or situation.
PMI has developed multiple foundational and practice standards that provide a framework for any organization to develop their own methodologies, governance and processes.
