Format: Checklist / Specifications/Procedures
Contributed by: Dennis Torrecampo

This comprehensive worksheet provides a well-organized and easily customizable set of requirements gathering guidelines and checklists from functional, non-functional, technical, as well as project management and business perspectives.

The requirements process includes understanding the customers' needs and expectations, and identifying, analyzing, prioritizing, allocating, tracking, testing and validating the requirements. This is done on the basis of information provided by the client in the form of documents, existing systems and process specs, on-site analysis interviews with end-users, market research and competitor analysis. It is at this point that a general statement of software scope is refined into a concrete specification that becomes the foundation for all software engineering activities that follow.
