"When a business undertakes a project completion report it seeks to resolve a number of matters relating to the investment and what has been learnt or achieved from that investment. The indicators for assessment include an evaluation of project processes and subsequent management, and often a focus on project outputs but not often project outcomes.
This template tends to address the operational project processes however could be further strengthened by including a section on Outputs and Outcomes for a more strategic perspective. For instance what was stated in the original business proposal or business case (1st column) should be contrasted or summarised against what was actually achieved by the project in terms of outputs (2nd column) and the business in terms of outcomes/change (3rd column).
The sustainability of the outcomes/outputs should also be commented upon. Any recommended follow-on project(s) you also see resulting from the completed project should also be captured. Thus the context of what has been completed is more fully understood by both the business and the project for future consideration.
