Raving Fans

I recently participated in a web seminar sponsored by Firstwave Technologies, a provider of web-based front-office business solutions claiming to offer the "only 100 percent web-based CRM application on the market." While I cannot vouch for that particular claim (although it may well be true), I nevertheless want you to know about the concept of the Raving Fan, which was developed by the company’s vice president of sales and marketing, Jeff Multz, and explained in the seminar.

Jeff has 15 years' experience in the CRM industry. Before joining Firstwave, he was VP of direct sales of ZLand.com. Prior to that he founded Emerging Market Technologies, Inc. (EMT), a VAR for stockbroker CRM and analytical applications, which expanded into cross-industry CRM automation of sales, marketing and customer service groups.

He co-authored Succe$$ful Telemarketing, a complete how-to book for call centers, has authored several white papers on sales, marketing and customer service and is a frequent speaker at industry meetings.

"It is an important and popular fact that things are not always what they seem. For instance, on the planet Earth, man had always assumed that he was more intelligent than dolphins because he had achieved so much -- the wheel, New York, wars and so on -- whilst all the dolphins had ever done was muck about in the water having a good time. But conversely, the dolphins had always believed that they were far more intelligent than man -- for precisely the same reasons."
