The most frequent topic in our BI discussions has been about the buy vs. build option.  Many ganttheads have asked if SAP BW is a good product as a data mart or if Siebel Marketing Enterprise is valuable.  This buy vs. build decision is not a new one.  In fact, companies such as Siebel and SAP have been introducing business intelligence add-ons to their products for a long time.  It is a natural progression for them to offer analytical tools that complement their products.  However, there are definite pros and cons associated with going with a purchased solution.  As a rule of thumb, I would suggest that if you want to create comprehensive BI functionality or integrate data from other sources that you build.  Here are the main issues to consider when deciding on a buy vs.
