These days, all of us are affected by the Internet craze. The dot-com bug has bitten almost everyone. Some time back, when the going was good, most businesses were sure that they needed to be online to achieve success. Now after the recent stock-market upheaval, their confidence is shaken. Earlier a dot-com was a sure sign of success, now there is talk about its demise. Which one is the real thing? And which one is the transient? Should your business have an e-commerce strategy or not? To resolve this issue, you need to understand the dynamics behind the success of your business.

How to Measure Business Success Matters
This may sound basic, but businesses exist because they deliver services or goods to another entity that needs them. A retailer exists because it sells the goods to the public. A wholesaler exists because it sells goods to the retailer. They both would be able to do this and make profit if their customers find enough value in their offerings to compensate them with a sum that would cover their cost and generate profit. This determines the success of the business.

One may have various yardsticks to measure the success of a business, but the main measure is whether it makes money or not.
