Greg Buchanan's first project management experience was not what he expected. In fact, he didn' t even know he was going to be a project manager when he started the job. One day, he's an analyst for a government procurement office, and next thing he knows, he's managing a major project, basically undoing the damage done by one of the Big Five firms. Talk about baptism by fire!
Greg was part of a team assigned to evaluate the value stream of a local government procurement office. During this evaluation, he couldn't help but notice that the web page for contract solicitations was, well, something an elephant might leave behind--a big elephant, in fact. As it turns out, that particular area of the client's web site had been designed by one of the Big Five firms as part of a previous project.

Bringing in the Clean-Up Crew As it existed, the site didn't take advantage of the technology that could have made it really useful to the client and to potential contractors. It was static and bland and didn't offer a whole lot in the way of functionality.
