For people on the go and with a desire to keep a variety of books at their fingertips, there are a number of dedicated e-book readers available for the general public. Amazon has Kindle, Barnes and Noble has Nook, Sony has Reader…the list goes on. Considering how this generation of cell phone users has ramped up to the challenges of new features, uses and applications, many e-book manufacturers are hoping to see if this technology will be similarly embraced some time in the near future.
 
Admittedly, many handheld devices nowadays can act as e-books, thereby decreasing the perceived need to get yet another piece of portable technology. PDAs and similar components have disadvantages with respect to their inherent technologies, however, and cannot accommodate many adjustments necessary to make a more pleasurable reading experience (for example, image clarity, brightness, etc.). Even current e-book readers have a memory capacity to hold approximately two sets of Encyclopedia Britannica, but customers will need more as we start realizing the potential for how e-book readers can be utilized.
